Staircases that Disappear in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. All right, here we are in the next test chamber. This is number 14. We can see that there are several icons to pay attention to here. We've got blocks, power balls, danger of drowning and the exhilaration puzzles as well as not being able to drink water. So if we walk in, we see there's an elevator here that leads to the exit right ahead of us. That's kind of a tease. And a pressure plate and a door to our right and a--it looks like a staircase that increases to our left. And we have a power ball dispenser right ahead of us there. Well, it's looking like I'm going to have to find my own way out of here. And I can do that with portals. So here we are trying to beat the clock to get up here in time. Here we are. We did it that time. The staircase went back down again. We see that we have a power ball receptacle here and a cube for the pressure plate which is down over there.
