How to Teach Kids Special Consonant Sounds

Now after they have been working on all of these blends, we can work on some very simple special blends. These include; ch, sh, th, and ph. Now we're not going to do the ph because you will hardly ever see children's words that have a ph in the beginning but you can mention it if you'd like to for fun. I choose not to, it's up to you. But the ch, sh, and th and again I'm putting that vowel on there but try not to. Ch, sh, th, there you go. Now, ch, sh, th, ch, sh, th, the th comes in two forms and you have to teach them the two forms and you have to recognize the two forms because you might not even realize there are two. There is the th as in think and then there's the th with the little buzz in there as in this, but you might of never though of that before. But we will go onto some words after they practice those. Have them go th, and th. Chip sounding out, shin, this, thin, there you have the two different forms of the th. And then come up with as many words as you can think of. Chap, ship, chop and keep going like that.
