How to Make a Polymer Clay Leaf

Hi, I'm Melina and welcome to Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful necklace out of polymer clay. For the next step we are going to make our pendent. As I said before in the little drawing that I made I said that our pendent is going to be a pretty hanging leaf. So we are going to take some of our green that we have mixed and we are going to roll it to a ball. Then we are going to flatten it. Now you can flatten this any way that you want, you can use a old jar. You can use a rolling pin but I don't suggest using the one that you cook with. You can get this little device here it is just a little clay roller. You can get this pretty much at any craft store. They are a few bucks and this is great cause it is not huge, it is not bulky it is the perfect size to do something like this. We are going to start rolling this out. Now we are going to try to make the leaf shape that I have described earlier. Now you don't want to go to thin and the reason why is the clay is going to bake and it is going to harden. It is not going to harden super hard so you don't want to make something that is to thin because it would break. You can make something out of the fimo and it would last you a lifetime. But again you don't want it to be to flimsy. If it is really thin and it has a tendency of breaking. What I did is made a oval and I flatten it and now I made a little tip like this. Continue out the edge that is going to be my leaf tip. Then I"m going to take this top part here and I'm going to fold it back. I'm not going to stick it yet I'm going to see how that is going to look. We are going to stick this right here and we are going to hang our beads through. We are going to string them through. We are going to make a little hole and that is going to make sure that it sticks.
