How to Put Holes in Round Polymer Clay Beads

Hi, I'm Melina and welcome to Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful necklace out of polymer clay. The next step after we have rolled our beads is we are going to take our poker and we are going to make different holes. Now you don't have to use what I use. I use this you know corn husk holder. You can use anything you want that is preferable metal and hard. A nail works really really well, just a regular old nail. So you are going to pick up your bead and you are going to look at it and see if it looks a little bit longer to one side. You are going to make the hole on the opposite on the long side. Because when you make the hole it is going to change the shape slightly and if you push it on the opposite side, it would even out. There we go that is it. Go in once and it made a nice little hole. Now if you are working for a while with a tool and it starts to get stuck inside of the beads cause you are building clay on the poking device, what you are going to want to do is maybe get some olive oil from the kitchen and do a little dab of oil on the poker. That is going to make it so the clay does not stick.
