Identify the 7th Chords on Piano

MIKE LAIS: Hi, I'm Mike Lais. And on behalf of Expert Village, this is playing piano 7th chords. The 7th chords. In this segment, we're going to talk about 7th chords. And basically what we're going to cover is major 7th, minor 7ths and dominant 7ths and the difference between the three different voicings that you can use on each type of chord. The different versions--which is again, the chord flipped upside down--if we were to start on the 3rd, the 5th or the 7th. We have more inversions of each chord now and more different types of voicings because we're not just dealing in triads. We're dealing with four voices as opposed to three. But I'll give you examples of each of the dominant, the minor and of the major 7th chords, and we're you would use each one of those. We'll play a few chord progressions with the different chords and the different inversions of each chord. Just so you can get an example and you can get a feel for where you're going to be going with all this stuff, like you're going to use the dominants with blues. Predominantly, it's a blues chord. The major 7ths kinda make your chords a little bit more jazzy as well as the minor 7ths do, as well. What do you say we get started and start off with some of the major 7th voicings?
