Planting Canna Robert Kemp Bulbs

YOLANDA VANVEEN: Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're learning all about fall-blooming flower bulbs. In this segment, we're talking about a Canna lily that is really spectacular called Robert Kemp. Now, Robert Kemp has been around for a long time; apparently since the turn of the century, it was hybridized. Has big green leaves with large red flowers, adds a lot of splash to your garden. Hummingbirds love it, too. Likes full, hot sun. Now, the bulbs are just a tuber, so there's really no up or down. With tubers, I just go sideways with them and the growth will come out of all these little eyes, so there's these little eyes on 'em. And so I always plant about three or four inches deep in full sun and sideways with lots of room to grow because they can get 5 or 6 feet tall. So they're great against the fence or against the wall or the side of the house or your entryway where you just want a lot of tropical splash. They're just a beautiful Canna lily that'll give you a lot of bang for your buck. In the next segment, we'll talk about Canna Princess Diana.
