Hello my name is Duane Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm talking about writing for A Capella on ensemble. One of the most significant are developments in American music came about shortly after the end of the Civil War in a town called New Orleans. Jazz was born. Jazz is always consider such a rhythmic, highly driven music and it is often over looked at the significant of the harmonic bases of jazz. When you are writing for a A Capella ensemble in a jazz style you have to understand that jazz chords are highly complex. In New York in the 40s a style of jazz called beat bop was develop by such graces Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie and they experimented with chords that utilize flat fits and flat ninths and sharp elevens. This was ground breaking in fact many of the 20th century classical musicians incorporated some of the elements that was develop by these jazz musicians.
