Hello my name is Duane Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm talking about writing for A Capella on ensemble. One of the important developments in A Capella writing in the America especially was the development of a new style that came out of the cities of America from the urban youth and this was a style called doo wop. During the 1950s doo wops style incorporated very warm melodies backed up by a kind of a rhythmic background. It is important that the writers had a rhythmic background because there was no instruments so this gave there movement that was necessary for this type of music. Another important element and this was meter. Meter has to do with how many beats within a measure. One of the significant concepts of doo wop is that it incorporates a triple meter on top with a douple meter in assists this is a three beat against a four beat or a two beat. What we are going to listen to is a example of doo wop and try to feel 3 against 4 and it is 12-8 piece.
