Open Voicing for the Hymn Style in Arranging A Cappella Music

Hello my name is Duane Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm talking about writing for A Capella on ensemble. We are going to be listening to a example of open voice writing. Open voice as oppose to close voice allows for a greater distance between parts so that the intervals between are wider. In this example you are going to here that the alto voice carries the melody and the harmony is in soprano tinner and base. As oppose to normally having the melody in the soprano voice this is being done because of the vocal range. Remember we have to be cautious of the range that our vocalize can accomplish. So here is a example of open voice writing.
