Closed Voicing for the Hymn Style in Arranging A Cappella Music

Hello my name is Duane Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm talking about writing for A Capella on ensemble. Hymn style writing is one of the most significant developments in A Capella writing because now the chord was used. A chord is basically three notes stacked on top of each other a third apart whether it would be a major third or a minor third. This is significant because now you have complete harmony. When writing for hymn style one of the earliest types of hymn style was utilizing close voicing. Close voicing means that the chord is use in the most compress form that is there is no spaces in between the chord it self whether its in group position first, second, or third in version. You going to here a example of a close voice hymn.
