History of Western Music & the A Cappella Gregorian Chant

Hello my name is Duane Carter and on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm talking to you about arranging for A Capella on ensemble. Most of our musical heritage comes from Western Europe. This is important when you are doing arranging because you have to consider where the music came from that you will be writing for. Particularly in A Capella ensemble this is very important because the beginnings of A Capella music in the Western tradition began in the church and church writing is very significant in the development of western music. This is primarily do to two events the rise of the Roman Empire and of course the rise to the Holy Roman Empire under the catholic church. This is highly important because A Capella music had its foundation in the church beginning with goring chant.
