The Basic Side Step in the Cha Cha Dance

CHRISTINA HAGGERTY: Hi. I'm Christina Haggerty. I'm teaching here at Silhouette's in Burbank and you're learning Cha-cha-cha, LA style on two. Here's our--oh, the step I'm going to show you is a side basic step. So I start--I always start with a one-four basic. It goes one, two, three, four, and five, six, seven, now, we break side, two, three, four, and five, break side seven, eight, and one. So to break it down, we use our forward basic Cha-cha-cha, our back basic, Cha-cha-cha. Now, instead of stepping forward on the left, you're actually going to bring that out to the side only for one count, and you'd bring back your right back to the right, back to center. And your Cha-cha-cha happens in place. Then, we do it again, but out to the right. Bring it out to the right, back to the center and Cha-cha-cha in place. We can go right back in to our forward basic and back basic again. Let me count it one more time for you. From the basic goes one, two, three, four, and five, six, seven. Here's the side break, two, three, four, and five, six, seven, eight, and one.
