How to Do Left Turns in the Cha Cha Dance

CHRISTINA HAGGERTY: Hi. I'm Christina Haggerty, and I'm teaching you Cha-cha-cha, LA style on two. These are part of the basic steps. We're now going to learn the left turn. It's important that we know all of our turns. So I always start from our basic so to be in the rhythm, it starts one break two, three, cha-cha-cha, break back. Here comes the left turn. Step forward first. Use your cha-cha-cha to pivot. Now, here comes our pivot, step, cha-cha-cha. Again, here's our basic one, two, three, four, and five, six, seven, eight, and one, step forward, two, cha-cha-cha, step right, pivot, step left, cha-cha-cha. Let me break the step down. So you're breaking forward on your two. Now instead of bringing that foot back like you're used to doing, bringing it back to neutral, you're actually going to pass through your neutral and use your cha-cha-cha. So you're going two, three, use your cha-cha-cha to turn half way. Now, we're going to pivot. Step forward on the right. Lift your heels, pivot. Step forward on the left, cha-cha-cha. Again, let's dance the step. Here's our basic, we go one, two, three, four, and five, six, seven, eight, and one, two, three, cha-cha-cha, six, seven, eight, and one.
