How to Pour the First Layer of Soy Candles

Hi, I'm Gretchen Soares and welcome to Expert Village. Today we're going to be making soy candles. In this clip we are going to be pouring our first layer. We have our container that we've already prepared. We have our rocks and our wick and we have the soy and it's at the proper temperature. It's nice and runny and ready to pour. So basically this is very simple, if you can pour a glass of juice you can do this. You want to push the wick to the side so that you don't run down the wick and you're just going to pour it in. We're going to put two colors in this candle so we're only going to fill this about half full. We have our first layer poured. So we want the wick to come up the center of the container. You don't want it to be over to the side because then it'll get the glass too hot and won't burn on this side or melt on this side and instead of just standing here and holding it in the center we have these fancy little sticks that we've drilled little holes in. They're some blue Popsicle sticks that we've drilled holes in and we're going to put the wick through it and then bend it down. And now we set this candle aside and wait for this layer to cool so that we can pour the second layer on it.
