Making a Binding for a Quilted Table Runner

Hi, welcome to Expert Village, I'm Gretchen Soares and today we're going to make a fancy four patch table runner. In this segment we're going to make the binding that we're going to put on our table runner. So we are going to make two and a half inch wide strips, we're going to lay our fabric out along the grain lines on the mat and measure two and a half inch strips. And we're going to cut those so that we end up with a nice long two and a half inch strips. We're going to make about five or six of these and we're going to take them to the machine and sew them together so we have one long continuous strip. Okay, now that we have all of our strips cut we're going to come to the machine. We're going to take them end to end, right sides together and put a little seam in there to hold it together. Once we have these sewn together end to end we are going to come to the ironing board and we're going to iron these in half wrong sides together so we can see the right sides. This is pretty simple, we just want to glide the iron right along gently with lots of steam and heat so it folds right in half. And we're going to do this all the way down this entire strip. Okay, now we have our binding made and we're ready to put it on our table runner.
