Combining Colors for Mushroom Incense Burner

Hi, I'm Melina, and welcome to Expert Village. Today we're going to make a beautiful mushroom and butterfly incense burner out of polymer clay. For the next step, we're going to take our colors and we're going to twist them together to create a beautiful, colorful base clay that we're going to make our mushroom out of. So you can twist, you can roll, you can blend it any way you like. The goal is have all colors showing, twisting in a beautiful manner. You don't want to do a lot of smooching because if you're trying to combine colors in a way to have all the colors showing and you start smooching you're just going to blend them. The goal right now is to not blend them. The goal right now is to make them stick together to combine to make a layered type of look. You don't want to blend them together like how we were blending before. So just be careful. Don't, don't go crazy smooching. As you roll something together stop and look at it and make sure you're not over-doing it. So I think that this is really beautiful, this stripes pattern right here. So since I want to use that on the outside of my mushroom design we're going to start making this into a ball and eventually we're going to roll it into a ball. You can see this ball gives the appearance of almost like a lava stone or an agate. It really has a beautiful look, especially when you use colors that are similar like red, orange, yellow or blue, green and teal. Use colors that are all the same. It just has a beautiful look.
