JASON SHERIDAN: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Jason Sheridan from the Sheridan Fencing Academy here in New York City, and today, we're going to demonstrate some intermediate sabre fencing. If you've protected yourself with a longer distance by double retreat, you'll need to take over your attack very likely with an advance lunge. While you're doing this, it's key that you pay attention to your opponent as you come forward. Because your distance is longer, he has more room and more time to protect himself so your advance should start very slowly with your eyes open. Watch carefully as the girls demonstrate. One will make attack with explosive lunge, the other double retreat and take over slowly at first, and then, quickly with advance lunge. Notice how she starts very slowly, make sure you recover, and gets much faster as she goes along. There is a change in rhythm. It goes from slow to fast. And this is key, this change of rhythm. Watch again. One makes attack, the other double retreat, and then advance lunge. Bravo.
