Using Master Volume with DJ Equipment

Hey everybody. DJ Shy here on behalf of Expert Village and I'm going to explain to you about how to mix. In order to learn how to mix we have to get to know our mixer. I've just talked to you about the channel volumes, but we also need to know the main volume which is the master. The master, I usually always put it at twelve o'clock. The master volume controls all levels. That includes the microphone, channel one volume, and channel two volume. The master controls the whole volume; always at twelve o'clock. The next one is the trim or the gain. This trim applies to the first turntable. The second trim applies to the second turntable. I usually keep the trims or the gains twelve o'clock as well. The only reason why i would change the gains is because maybe one song is too quiet and you want to increase the volume because maybe the mp3 wasn't recorded at a certain volume level. So you would want to increase the gain so that people could hear that song a little louder. Other than that I don't usually touch it. Same goes for the microphone level which is the gain which we did earlier and we did the microphone check. I usually keep it at twelve o'clock. And that's the importance of the master volumes. The quality of the song is heard.
