Cleaning a Fireplace with a Brush

Hi, I'm Bobby on behalf of Expert Village. Everyone loves having a warm fireplace on a cold winter day. The downside to that is that you have to clean the fireplace. In this series we are going to tell you how to clean the inside of your fireplace, your chimney and even repaint the inside of your fireplace to make it look new. So I've removed all of the ashes like this with the shovel and there is a little bit left in here so I am using my little broom right now to try to get the last pieces of loose ashes inside the fireplace and you just want to try and work it around and try to get into a big pile that you can scoop up the last bit up with. This is a fairly easy step. Just sweep on out and try to get it out from all the mortar joints. We are going to be painting later on so if you plan on repainting the fireplace, I am going to try and make sure to do a really good job of sweeping up all the loose material on the fireplace. But once again, just sweep it up into a big pile and then use your shovel and very gently and once again, try not to disturb the ashes too much where they will make a cloud inside of your house. You want to remove all the ashes that you possibly can.
