Hi! I'm Bobby on behalf of Expert Village. Everyone loves having a warm fireplace on a cold winter day. The down side to that is that you have to clean the fireplace. In this series, we're going to tell you how to clean the inside of your fireplace, your chimney, and even repaint the inside of your fireplace to make it look new. One of the first things I want to talk to you about is the materials you're going to need for your fireplace. We're going to need some trash bags or a box to dispose properly of our ashes. These trash bags need to be pretty heavy and also a heavy duty box. I've got a roll of plastic that we can lay down so that we don't get ashes all over the house. Later on, I'm going to let you how to repaint your fireplace. You'll need to get some paint. I picked this up at a local hardware store. It's for fireplaces and grills that are outside. You're going to need a shop vac. Not your household vac, but a shop vac to clean up some of the residue inside the fireplace. You'll need a fire kit like this one. It's got a shovel. You don't have to have one, but I like having the shovel. I've got a brush also. Those are the basic tools that you'll need to clean your fireplace.
