Stepping Back in Sabre Fencing for Beginners

JASON SHERIDAN: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Jason Sheridan for Sheridan Fencing Academy here in New York City. Today, we will be taking about beginning sabre fencing. Of course, it's also important to step back. And when we step back, we begin with the back foot, again, notice I'm into my proper en garde. I'm not tense. I'm very relaxed with my knees pointing to the proper way. Back foot goes out, front foot comes in. It's smooth. I ended on my en garde position again. Bah. Again, notice my knees aren't turning in or anything. My front foot and knee point straight ahead of me. I move like so. It can little slow. It can be fast. It can be slightly bigger, a little smaller, et cetera. So, once again, starting from en garde, ending from en garde. No big clunky movements. You also notice my movements have no noise. They're quiet, quiet smooth movements, the most important thing. Let me show you from a different angle. I'm straight on, back foot, front foot, my knee point straight ahead as I go bah, bah.
