Hold Cross-Fader Scratching Tips for DJ's

Hey everyone, I'm DJ Shy here on Expert Village and I'm trying to explain to you how to do your basic scratches. Now in this segment here, I'm going to show how to exactly hold the crossfader and get your record prepared in order to scratch. Now you going to hold, this is a crossfader right here. So this side (right) again refers to this table (right) and this, if you have a crossfader right here, it's going to play the song on the left and if you have it in the middle it's going to play both. So, right now I want to scratch this song right here, so I want to have it all the way to the right, you?re not going to hear it because you?re listening to the right one, but if I go like this, you?re going to hear it. So in order to hold it you want your thumb on this side and your finger on this side. That's pretty much how you hold the crossfader. Some people do it with these two fingers, some people do it with this finger, some people do it with both, but I personally scratch with my middle and my thumb. So this is pretty much how you hold the crossfader and how you hold the record, you just want to go at a comfortable where you can just bend your wrist. So all you?re doing is just bending the wrist back and forth. I have it on the edge because I have more control, so I keep my middle finger at the edge here and just rock it back and forth and that's how you hold the record and the crossfader.
