Learn About the Last Two Option in Barbu

In my opinion, this is the, this is probably the what I would call the chamber music of the game. This is really a beautiful, beautiful level that really caters to the skilled player, because the penalty is very high for mis-playing hands like this and it really is a race of the opponents trying to knock out your low cards so you can't escape from the hand and you're trying to strip out suits. Last two, if you take the last trick of the hand, it has nothing to do with trump, it has nothing to do with queens, or heart king or ace or any of that. You must get off the lead, so that by the time the eleven trick comes around, if you're still on lead you're bailing out of the hand and you never hope to see the, either one of last two tricks. So, the idea of this hand is to count every suit. Keep your high cards to protect your deuces in this suit and go after suits that happen to have an accumulation of middle cards, like king, queen, jack, nine. That's a suit you want to attack. The idea is to get out of the hand by trick eleven or earlier, without any chance, any chance, of being thrown into the lead and if you've got a three of a suit and you haven't counted the deuce, you better make sure you remove that as well. Ideally, you want to get into a hand of last two, if you have deuces in your hand or suits that you know you can escape the lead.
