Learn the History of Barbu

Barbu - B A R B U - is a French word and also means king of hearts. It is a relatively new card game but was actually brought to this country in 1961 but the Italian Blue Team, the bridge players. Avarelli, Forquet, Balladonna, oh god, I can't remember the fourth name but; Garozzo. These were the great Italian bridge team that played competitively against the American contract bridge league teams in the different events. The Bermuda Bowl, the European championship, the ACBL North American championships. These were tremendously accomplished players. So the history of the game, about 1960, games only about well, 45 to 50 years old. However, it has really exploded in popularity particularity among the bridge players and it also is beginning to gain a foot hold elsewhere. There are three dedicated on line sites for Barbu. Two of them in Europe, one of them in the US. You can do a search engine, search for Barbu - B A R B U . There is plenty of written material on the Internet and I have written a full length book on Barbu. The Complete Win at Barbu, which we will talk about later. So basically the history of the game, about 50 years old, predominant game about th bridge players favorite in between bridge session and it is a game that is a wonderful tool to learn other card games as well.
