How to Juggle Cigar Boxes with Upward Snatches

EMIL LAMPRECHT: Now, a really cool variation I learned on snatches very recently is an upward snatch as opposed to a downward snatch. Usually, when you're doing a box snatch which is whether it's a one box or a two box on opposite side, you're usually snatching down and coming around. Now, you're going to be snatching up. This creates a completely different visual aesthetic and it's also much harder because you have to move much faster. Your hand now has to, after it grabs the box, change direction to come around to the other side. I'll show you what it looks like with a one box snatch. Now, you can do it with the two as well and you can even do it with 180s and 360 spins. But it's very hard. What I suggest in trying 180 and 360 spins with an upward snatch, make the whole lift very high and make your arm arch very high or very close to your body to ensure that you don't collide with the spinning box. That's upward snatches.
