How to Play the Third Part of "Dream on" on the Guitar

JOE WILES: This is segment three of Aerosmith's "Dream On." We're going to take a look at that concluding riff that kind of speeds through right before the verse begins. Let's look. We're going to put our fingers in position on the G string, our ring finger is going to be on the 6th fret, okay? And right behind it, on the same string, our middle finger is going to be on the 5th fret and our index finger is going to be on the 3rd. The reason why is because we're going to pull each of these off down to the third. It sounds like this. And then we pick--we just come back up, okay? And then, we're going to go to the B string, 5th fret, 6th fret, 8th fret, okay? We're going to hammer on all of those, one, two, three. So far--as we climb up here, we're going to go to the 6th fret, 8th fret, 9th fret, okay? Then 8th fret, 9th fret, 11th fret. Okay? So far it sounds like this. Then we're going to do a series of hammer-ons and pull offs. On the B string, the 9th fret to 11th fret and back, 8th fret to 9th fret and back, 6th fret to 8th fret and back, 4th fret to 6th fret and back, then two, one slide up to 13. The whole introduction slowly sounds like this. And then the second half. And that concludes our three segment introduction on "Dream On." Join us for our next segment, we're going to look at number 38 which is an animal song. I'll see you there.
