This is a good ravage city hand, because what is, we will just throw that puppy down there, what is the likelihood of taking more than two tricks in the same suite unless you are pretty careless. I would start this hand out confidently by leading one of the lower diamonds. I certainly do not want to play the ace of spades. Because what is going to happen if I play the ace of spades? King, queen, jack. Now I am probably going to get screwed, or shafted if you will, with having to take the nine of spades so you definitely want to start a suite that you do not think you are going to take. Now there is a risk of taking eight clubs here but I mean that is going to take an incredible split if I lead the ten it would have to go nine, eight, seven. Then I lead the six, it is going to go five, four, three. So you want to definitely avoid that and maybe consider leading the eight of hearts, that is the best play here. Because even though seven, six, four, then I have a complete passage in hearts to get out of the hand. So the best lead in this hand, in a ravage city hand is the eight of hearts. Completely safe. Let them start the clubs, you will hopefully get rid of one club. If you are willing to concede taking a trick in clubs and a trick in hearts, I am sorry you are not likely to take a trick in hearts, you could. If you are willing to concede the ace of spades as long as you do not take any more spades and if they lead with a spade like the ten or the jack you will be glad to get rid of the nine. Same thing in diamonds, I do not care about taking the king, I just do not want to take any thing more. So this is a hand where you do not want to take anymore than one trick in a suite and that way you should get out with at least a share of the eighteen point price. So that one works out really good. Again, did that as an option or do that as an option when playing the short game, although some groups like to have it as an option.
