Learn What Cards You Can Discard in the Fan Tan Option in Barbu

pass and not make a play. The play is forced here. Once again, even if I didn't have this particular hand. If somebody leads this ten of diamonds, the only legal plays are jack of diamonds, nine of diamonds, or another ten. You chose that as a starter card. If I started with the six of diamonds the play would be seven of diamonds, five of diamonds or another six. Absolutely forced plays. So when the ten of clubs comes down, he'll probably play the nine or the queen. Well that's fine because, now I have opportunities for this discarding in this suit. I don't want to throw this ten of hearts out. I want to be able to get rid of this jack. Eventually, if you look at this hand you'll be able to see how this hand will actually almost play itself. If I'm forced to lead a suit I'm going to keep the diamonds blocked and if I don't have a play in clubs eventually, because they don't have the tens. They're going to be playing clubs for me, very conveniently. Then I'm going to open the spade suit. Then I'm going to have opportunities. I'll either draw the nine of spades. I don't care about jack, queen, king, ace. Eventually, I'm going to have a chance to get rid of this ten of hearts, the diamond suit I'll always play last and I have a natural walkout. I'll hopefully to strip out these, strip out these. I've got the diamonds blocked completely on the opponents. It's a powerful hand. Call fan-tan when you have hands that have lots of sequence cards. Jacks, tens, nines, middle cards. No tops, no bottoms. You want to get fan-tan out of the way even if you have a hand that might have one or two flawed suits. Say, down to the four. Avoid suits with aces and deuces, and not cards in between. You want to get this out of the way if you can. You don't want to be forced to play fan-tan at the end of a game, with a bad hand like the other hand because you're going to be giving up forty points or twenty-five points. You always want to get twenty-five out of your fan-tan. Go to a search engine, study the game of fan-tan. It's an intrical part of barbu
