Italian Sausage Pasta Recipe

Hi! I’m Linda Leon with Expert Village.com. Today we are going to learn how to prepare a quick low fat meal. You know part of staying healthy is to learn how to cook light and did you know in America we have so many problems with health and obesity and other factors that it is good to learn how to cook something that is just easy, quick and healthy for you. So we are going to make an Italian sausage dish and the ingredients are Italian Sausage, red and green bell peppers, olive oil and a small package of spaghetti seasoning and that is any spaghetti seasoning of your choice or if you choose to make your own, that’s fine also. So come a little closer and let’s see what we can prepare. We are going to pour a little bit of the olive oil into our pan. Once you get the olive oil in the pan, then what we are going to do is chop up a little bit of the red peppers. Not going to use the whole amount because we don’t have a lot of time; it’s a very short segment here. But you get the idea. So we are going to cut up the peppers and I love these colors. This is just absolutely wonderful. The red and green and it is really so appealing. When people see colors like this it will make them want to eat what you have. You know. It’s always good to make your food as appetizing as possible. We are going to go ahead and put those in our pan; nice hot skillet and we will let those sauté for just a little bit. Next we are going to cut up some of our sausage and the sausage was already pre-cooked. I cooked the sausage according to the directions on the packet. Once we get the sausage cut up, we are going to add that to the pan. We will give that a quick stir fry with a small spatula. Now to this we are going to add the seasoning from the spaghetti but also I kept the pan drippings from the sausage when I originally cooked it and this just gives the food a little more flavor. We will add a little of the drippings there. Then we are going to add to the drippings about a ¼ cup of the seasoning and we will stir all that together. It will make kind of a roux almost. Yesterday I had prepared some penne pasta so even though you can make this recipe without it, I think it will be good to add some. This is whole penne pasta by the way. It looks a little different from the standard pasta. So we will toss that in and there we have it. This is a very nice low fat quick and easy meal to prepare. I’m Linda Leon with Expert Village.com.
