Inspecting the Distributor Cap After Installation
Hi! My name is Nathan McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we’re going to cover our final visual inspection and test firing of the motor after servicing the distributor cap. It’s a good idea just to recheck your work. It will save you headache later on down the road. Go ahead and eyeball everything again. Make sure you have not forgotten any tools under the hood. Check all those little nooks and crannies, if you have dropped something this is your last chance to find it. Everything looks good up to this point. All my wires have been double clicked on; PCV valves seated good; cold air intake is on. The bolts are tight and it looks like we are ready to fire the motor. Okay. As you can hear, the engine is running very smoothly. There’s no erraticness in the idle. If you sit inside the engine compartment, you can see the tachometer is not variating up and down. Our tachometer here is sitting right at factory specification for the idle. There are no engine lights on, that means the power train control module hasn’t detected any misfires. Hopefully, you’ll get greater performance and increase fuel economy out of your new distributor cap.
