DREW NOAH: So, now, I'm going to show you how you can burn CDs including Data CDs as well as data DVDs. So, first off, you probably just want to put what you want in a playlist. So, I've got this playlist with a bunch of stuff in it. And to set up what kind of CD you're going to burn, you want to go to your 'Preferences' which on Mac is under 'iTunes', 'Preferences' and is under the 'Edit' menu in Windows. Then you want to go to your 'Advanced settings' and go to 'Burning'. For preferred speed, you probably just want to leave it on maximum possible. And then you have the option for disc format. So, you can burn an audio CD which will play in your car CD player and all other CD players. I have this option to leave a gap between the songs. I like to leave it on none because a lot of CDs these days, the songs seamlessly go into one--into the other so I don't like to leave a gap. Sound check will make sure that all the songs on the CD play at the same volume. This might be good to use if you're making a mix CD where maybe some of the songs seem a lot louder than other ones. You can include CD text. What this does on certain CD players, most often, the ones you find in cars, they have the option to display the track name and the artist name. So, if you include this, that should show up if you have a compatible CD player. And Like I said, these usually are in cars. Then you have the option for an MP3 CD. And this kind of CD plays in certain players but I would--if you know you can use MP3 CDs, then go for it. But most players that I've come in have never played this for me so--then you have the option for a 'Data CD or DVD' and this is good to transfer a bunch of songs or back up songs on a disc. But if you want a playable CD you're just going to play in your CD player, you want to use audio CD. So, first off, I'm going to set it on audio CD and let's see--I'm going to make a new playlist, File, New Playlist. I'm just going to call it Burn for the disc I want to burn and let's say this is the album I want to put on the Burn right here. I would just drag it over the Burn. And so, now, it's on my playlist and now I can burn a CD and I want to make sure that I have my settings set on audio disc like I did or audio CD. And you want to make sure down here that--the limit on audio CDs is about 1.2 hours so you can't make anything longer than that, it's not going to work. But what you can do is you can just make a huge, long list, like I did here, see it's much more than a 1.2 hours. And then you can burn audio CDs and iTunes will go through and burn everything it can in one CD and ask you for a new blank CD and start burning from there until it burns up another hour and .2 so you could make a giant playlist and then just burn it on a whole bunch of discs if you want it to. But if you just want it on one disc, make sure it's 1.2hours or less. And then you will just click Burn Disc, of course you wouldn't want to insert a blank CDR. I'm not really going to go into the MP3 CD 'cause not many people, I think really use that but if this is another option where you can burn more files on a disc and if you're player will play it, then you can get more than that 1.2 hours. A Data CD or DVD, I'm going to click that option, basically allows for as much disc space as you have on your blank disc. So, blank CDR is typically 700 megabytes. So, you can see, I've only got 63.7 and you can burn this really big playlist and I'm still only half way there. And this is good for transferring files to another computer. But you have to remember, anything you buy from the iTunes Store will have that DRM on it. So, that means you could try to put them on another computer but you'll only be able to play them after you authorize that computer with your Apple ID and password, so remember that. And also remember it's going to say, Burn Data Disc down here so you know you're burning a data disc. If you just want to burn a regular CD and you see this down here, you know you got to go back into your settings and put it back on audio CD. But you can burn a Data CD or DVD, so I say the typical CDR is 700 mega bytes, a typical DVDR is 4.7 gigabytes. So, you can actually burn a really good amount of songs onto a data DVD. But that's how you use Burn CDs and Data Disc in iTunes.
