NEIL HUBBARD: So, the bagpipe can be a bit of an octopus when you're first trying to figure out how to hold it. It's actually a lot easier than it might seem. The easiest way to hold the instrument before you put it up on your shoulder is right here on the bass drone. You can kind of hold the blowpipe and the chanter in your hand. When you're marching, you would hold it like this, along your side. Just casually standing here, you can hold it like this, or like this, or I've seen guys hang them over their shoulder, but I don't want it to fall apart. So, to get it up of on your shoulder, you basically just put the drones up there and, let the chanter hang down, and they kind of balance there, bring the blowpipe to your mouth. And as you inflate the instrument, the sound starts to come out.
