Avoiding Flames in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi. I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. So if we look over here we see that we can shoot portals up above that area and we can shoot one in the wall as well. So not keen to accept our fate, we'll just go ahead and jump through the portal. And we've escaped certain death at least for now. And the computer program is not happy with us at the moment, but our job is not to make it happy. Our job is to survive and enjoy the game. So we're up here and we see a door but it's locked, and we can't go through there and there is really nothing else for us to do in this area. So if this is all there is to life after test chamber 19, maybe we should jump in the fire but if we look up ahead, we see that there are some busted pipes and some other things up there that might lead to an escape for us. So let's try to go ahead and get up there by placing a portal up at the very top of this area. And then another one here on the ground. And we can use a momentum jump to launch ourselves across. And that's what we've done. Into the blue, out of the orange, back into the blue and then across the chasm, and now we're going to uncover some of the mysteries behind the Aperture Science Center.
