Shooting Portals in Mid-Air in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. It's all going to happen very fast, so I wanted to explain it before we do it. The reason we can't just put the portal on the moving segment is that, once it starts to move, any portals that are on it disappear. So we'll hit the button, jump through the portal, place our exit on that platform, go ahead and jump off and shoot your portal in midair--it launches you across--and now we've made it through our friendly cube. We want to pick that up and jump down to the elevator, and then we're going to want to let it take us back across so we can drop the cube off, because we need to put the cube--we need to take it with us back to where that pressure plate was. But the problem is there's no way to get out of this room when this panel is closed, because if you remember, we came into this room by pressing that button which pushed this out and we came in from behind this panel. So if we want to get out again, we have to open the panel and then go out.
