Using Pressure Plates & Cubes in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. So there's no place for us to put a portal that's convenient and safe. The only option we really have is to place a portal here across this chasm and jump into it and make sure that we time our jump right so that we land on a safe place up above. Now, if you look at the angle that the portal is placed, or the angle that the portal is placed relative to you, I should say, you can tell where you're going to land when you jump. So we want to make sure that we land over a place that has plenty of ground, so make sure you place your portal on the ceiling over far to the left, if you can, and then we can jump through. It's best if you place this portal a little bit below you because the jump is far, and if you don't place it below you, there's a good chance you'll miss. So now we're up on the second level of height in this test chamber. There's where we came from, down there on our right, and we can see that up above is another platform. This one, we can just go ahead and place a portal on the ceiling and place one on the floor here, and that's easy enough to get up there.
