Careful of Bouncing Power Balls in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. So that works great. Now, we can come down, bring the cube with you, and we've got an elevator shaft that's going up here. And we can see that there's actually a series of three elevator platforms and each one of those is activated by a power ball receptacle somewhere in the level. So we can go following this blue line into this small room over here, where we have both a power ball dispenser and receptacle right next to each other. We can use the companion cube as a deflector to get the power ball to go into the receptacle. We just have to hold it at the right angle, and there we go. That's easy enough. Then we can come back through and go into the third chamber here, where we've got a door with a pressure plate--if we stand on it, it opens--and then another pressure plate in the door. This one is up too high for us to jump, and there's black wall and floor and ceiling all around, so we can't make any portals. But we can use the companion cube to climb on up, then pick it up and put it on the pressure plate. So now, the second door is open, and we want to go back and get the other power ball that was bouncing in the second corridor above.
