Playing "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash

JOE WILES: Joe Wiles here with the Rock & Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village. In this little segment, we're going to talk about The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go." Two chords, you better know 'em already but if you don't, we're going to learn 'em here. Let's take a look at the guitar. The first chord is an open D chord, that's an open D string here, 2nd fret of the G string with your index finger, 3rd fret of the B string with your ring finger, and then the 2nd fret again of the high E string with your middle finger. Together, that sounds like this. The next chord is a G chord, or also called a four-fingered G chord, because there's other variations of the same chord. On the low E string, it's the third fret of the low E string with your middle finger, it's the second fret of the A string with your index finger, open D string, open G string, and then the 3rd fret of the B string with your ring finger, and then the 3rd fret of the high E string with your pinky, that's an open G chord. Okay? The only other thing we're gonna--get to do in this song is mute the strings, just lay my hand across it lightly, and one other thing, we're on the high E string, we're going to use the index finger on the 5th fret of the high E string and hammer on to the 8th fret, okay? Nothing to it. In context, we're going to go back and forth between this D chord and the G chord, okay? It sounds like this slowly, and then the hammer on, okay? To speed, it sounds like this. Nothing to it, those are two easy chords that you should already know so practice them. And in the next segment, we're going to talk about "Suffragette City" by David Bowie. See you there.
