Playing "Epic" by Faith No More

JOE WILES: Greetings. This is Joe Wiles with the Rock & Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment, we're going to take a look at "Epic" by Faith No More. Let's take a look. The whole introduction to this song is a power chord series followed by a little riff that's really easy. Now, the power chords are just two-fret power chords, or two-string power chords. The first one is an E power chord, it's open E and the second fret of the A string. Right here, okay? The next one, keep your finger here 'cause we're going to use it as the basis for the next power chord. Bring your ring finger to the fourth fret of the D string. Slide it up one, to three and five. Slide it up two, to five and seven. Slide it up two more, to seven and nine, and hit your open E string at the same time. Okay? That little series sounds like this. And then, we follow that off with a riff. It's all in your open E--or it's all in your E string. We hit it open twice. Then, third fret twice. Then, second fret. Then, third fret. Then, we repeat. Altogether, that riff sounds like this. To speed, this sounds like this. Nothing to it, just practice it a few times. I'm sure you'll get it right. In the next segment, we're going to talk about "Flirtin' with Disaster" by Molly Hatchet, and I'll see you there.
