Playing "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones

JOE WILES: Hi, this is Joe with the Rock and Roll Conservatory on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment, we're going to take a look at the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop." So, cut your hair in a mullet and let's go to the guitar. Like most Ramones songs this is a simple three chord process, okay? The first one is an A-chord using an E-chord form barred on the 5th fret here. It sounds like this: 5th fret, 7th fret, 7th fret, 6th fret. We're only going to aim for the lowest four notes with most of these. The next part we're going to look at is a D-chord using an A-chord form on the 5th fret. The fretting sequence goes like this: 5th fret, 7th fret, 7th fret, 7th fret. And the third chord we'll use is slide the same chord form up two frets, 7th fret, 9th fret, 9th fret, 9th fret. We're going to use a lot of alternate picking as we go through this. This is what it sounds like. It repeats that a lot through this song. To speed, that riff sounds like this. Practice that a few times. Those chords are really handy chords to have in your guitar playing arsenal, okay? The next song we're going to take a look at is Radiohead's "Creep." I'll see you there.
