Orange Box's Portal Walkthrough for Test Chamber 4

Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software. A company with which I have no affiliation. Here we are about to enter text chamber 4 of Portal. If you look at the little marquis that's at the entrance to each test chamber, it kind of gives you and idea of what kind of challenges you might face in that portal. This one shows a falling cube and it also shows that there is a danger of a cube falling on me. Portal has kind of a dark sense of humor about it. Here we go into this test chamber and we see immediately that there's a pressure pad that when you step on it, it opens the door, but as soon as you leave it, the door is closed. So, we're going to need to find a way to depress that pad. Probably with a cube like we had done before. This is a cube dispenser device and we can see that it's dropped a cube down here for us, but if we jump down there we're not going to have any way to get back out. So what we need to do is, try to use the portal gun to get that cube back up here where we can put it on the pressure pad. So it's not just your character that can walk through the portal, it's any physical object in the game. If we shoot a blue portal under this cube, the cube will fall through the blue portal and come out of the orange one. And there it is. So, we can go pick it up, put it on the pressure plate, and that's all there is to test chamber 04. Off we go to the next one.
