When to Use Plastic & Glass to Store Food

Hi, Christi Ferretti with Expert Village. When storing your leftovers, consider your options, which are going to allow even air distribution or even cooling. But you also have Tupperware containers, plastic containers and even glass. When given the option try and use glass if at all possible. Especially if you know that you are going to be reheating that product later. Heated plastics can give off some carcinogens and things that people aren't so sure about, so that just saves you extra dishes and extra work in the long run. Also glass will conduct cold and hot better, so things will heat faster and they will also cool faster when put in the fridge. Which generally means the food is going to stay out of that danger zone of forty to one hundred and forty degrees and at less time. Also when heating, making sure that you are reheating those left over foods to a safe temperature, over a hundred and fifty degrees, making sure that all bacteria?s that may have grown in that food are safely destroyed and you can enjoy your foods.
