Storing tropical fruits and vegetable is a little trickier than storing fruits and vegetables that you want to keep crisp. Tropical fruits and vegetables are used to warmer climates. Putting them in the refrigerator will reduce the integrity and the vitamin impact of them. Fruits and vegetables like pineapples, lemons, plums, and avocados should be kept on your counter in a cool dry place. Once you cut your pineapple then of course you will want to refrigerate it. Just a quick tip for your avocados. If they are ready to eat you can put them in the refrigerator to slow the ripening process down. Sometimes, if you are shopping seasonally you may find that the avocados are too hard to eat and you need them sooner. A helpful tip is to place them in a brown paper bag with a banana. The banana emits a gas that speeds up the ripening process of the avocados. Plan ahead when using avocados and if you can't get them ripe just roll them up in a brown paper bag with a banana. Place them on your counter not in the refrigerator and in a day or so they will be ready to eat.
