Cramp Roll Steps & Moves in Advanced Tap Dancing

Hi this is Sarah McLellan in New York City. We are at June Brody's dance studio, and on behalf of Expert Village, today I'm going to teach you some advanced tap moves. Follow me. So, cramp rolls, and their variations, are something that once you know how to do them, and once you're comfortable, you can make them faster and faster, and then they sound, really, really intricate because of the amount of sound that's in a small amount of time. So, we'll start with just a basic cramp roll, ball change, heel change, then we'll do like the flap step hell change, which gives it an extra beat. Ok basic cramp roll. Which, to me, kind of sounds like a horse trotting, if you will, so. The important thing is, is not to put too much weight into it, like if you were trying to go, it doesn't really work. You've got to keep everything light. Just let the beats come out underneath your feet. The next one is the flap, step heel, heel. Of course, you can do that to the left side. When you're doing these cramp rolls, make sure if you're trying to practice them and really get your feet nice and limber, do them to the left side as well. You can also do reverse cramp rolls, which kind of go right, left, left, right. Which are a little bit more tricky.
