How to Trim a Placemat

I''m Shelly Cordsen here with Expert Village. And we are still working on our personality placemats. K. I have now completed flipping and sewing, flipping and sewing my strips on to my embroidery and when we flip it over you can see now I have actually quilted as we go, which makes it real nice, permanent and now what we are gonna do is trim this down. I have my quilter's ruler here and I'm gonna trim down the excess and again size is just a matter of preference.if you can tell from mine you can tell I'm not one of those that doesn't really cares if it is really centered. We are gonna flip it the other way and trim all the excess and get rid of our strings and I do usually wear half of what I sew in the form of thread , there we go, and round each side and I"m gonna do it from this side because this is where I catch the excess fabric , and here is my personal placemat I probably , need to probably square it up a little bit more, but you can also, do other things to embellish here I could because I'm a seamstress, sew buttons, rick rack, trim and you can further embellish this anything you want, but you need to do this before you put the vinyl on.
