Playing 'Wish You Were Here' on Guitar

JOE WILES: We're going to take a look at number 9 on our list which is Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here." Let's take a look. Now for the introductory riff, we're going to keep our pinkie and ring fingers on the 3rd fret of the high E and B strings, okay? Just keep them there. Now, our index finger is going to hammer on to the 2nd fret of the low--excuse me, of the A string. Hit the A string open, hammer your index finger down, hit the open D string, and then go--and then pick the 2nd fret of the D string, then strum the high four strings. That first bit sounds like this, slowly. And then hit your open G string, 2nd fret of the D string--which your finger is already there--then open D string. Strum then bring your middle finger to the 3rd fret of the low E string. This chord that I'm playing now is a G5 chord. It's got these fingers here. It's the same but your middle finger is on the 3rd fret of the low E string and muting out the A string. The string sounds like this in order. It should ring out, mute, ring, ring, ring, ring, okay? The riff, slowly, sounds like this. And again. Take a look at our next segment, we're going to look at number 7. I'll see you there.
