This is Vicki Walker for Expert Village. For the purpose of our demonstration today in making a backpack I have pressed under the seams on the side a 1/4 of a inch. On the top 2 inches of each section both the front and the back of the backpack. This is going to prepare the area that we would be making the casing in on of the future clips. So I moved to the sewing machine sew right next to the pressed edge or 2 inches from the top. That takes care of that side and I would do the same thing for the other side that I have already pressed down. Sewing right next to the pressed edge. So when we get ready to turn down our casing our edges would be finished and there would no ravel raw edges exposed. We would move to the other section, the other side the back part of the backpack and do the same thing. That is how we prepare the edges of our fabric of our casing that we would be doing in a future clip.
