Extending End Grain with a Block Plane

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip we'll be extending the end grain. On my project I have a piece of stock which I need to end grain plane. A good tip when doing this is to set it in your vice and actually take a second piece of stock the exact same size go ahead and clamp that in. Now once that is clamped, we have a piece of scrap wood here and a good piece right here. When I plane in this direction, I can go all the way through to my second piece and I don't have to worry about this end being blown out by the plane. By using this method it really helps to give us a nice consistent cut on our first piece and then whatever happens to the scrap piece it doesn't matter.
