Adjusting a Block Plane

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip we'll be adjusting the block plane. Before we get started you need to make sure that you have the iron sharpened to about 25-30 degree angle. Next we need to place the iron into the planes body. Now when you do this, you need to make sure that the bevel is up. Next you want to center the iron on the planes body and install that iron cap. Next we need to adjust our iron just slightly passed the sole. Now this takes a little bit of practice to get it just right. Then we want to tighten it all together. Next you want to test it on a piece of scrap stock and when finished you should be left with these nice thin rolls of stock.
