JOEL SIEGEL: Alright, so you're not going to see the cymbals but we're going to go ahead, I'll demonstrate an exercise. The concept is the same. We're going to do four instead of those eighths just because it's going to be easier with the foot. And again, the same thing as the bass drum with your heel down, if you watch the set earlier, and we're going to be getting those tight sounds out of the hats. So here's what's going to look and sound like. Like I said, you're not going to see the cymbals but you'll hear them. Alright, that's what it sounds like. You may have noticed kind of in the second half of that exercise, I was rocking my heel back and forth. This is just one way to keep time. We'll talk about it a little later. Your left foot, excuse me, is going to actually be--they're not really ghost notes so I kind of thinking it was like guardian angel notes. Your left foot is going to end up doing a lot of timekeeping without doing actually any playing, but we'll get to do that a little later. Let's play those four quarter notes together. And like earlier, if you want to just do one and three, feel free to do that. I'll count you off, one, two, ready, play. And off. Not the easiest thing, but as you work at it, you'll grow to appreciate it.
