How to Stop when Pulling a Trailer

Hi, I am Albert Headsmith with Expert Village. We are going to talk a little bit about basic trailer. Right now we are going to talk about break boxes and how important they are. Whenever you are driving with a trailer that has got some size to it and you are carrying a pretty heavy load, it is important to know how to operate the break box. The break box acts as pretty much a hand break or a response the regular break petal that is in the floorboard. What this does is it is actually controlling the breaks that are on the trailer itself. One of the things for when you are shopping for a break box you need to remember is that you need one that you can collaborate how quickly the response time is from the break petal in your floorboard to the actual break mechanism that is on the trailer. You want to be able to set that so there is a small delay between the break of the car and the break of the trailer. What this is going to make sure that doesn't happen is that your trailer breaks lock up and that you are not lursting forward whenever you are stopping in your vehicle. One of the easiest way to set these boxes is to go ahead and put your break box on max power and to go ahead and put the car in drive and to push the break handle all the way in until it is at max then you gradually want to release the breaking mechanism in the break box until the vehicle starts to move forward slightly at that point you know you have the proper setting for the breaks. Go ahead and make sure you understand how to use the break box so you can go ahead and stop whenever you need to.
